Dermal Fillers
Throughout the Rocky Mountain region, people spend a lot of time outdoors, regardless of the season. That exposure to the sun and elements—along with the natural aging process—takes its toll on our faces, leading to wrinkles, lines, and a loss of volume associated with more youthful appearances. Our experienced injectors use Restylane® and other dermal fillers in Denver, CO, to help women and men from Greenwood Village, Parker, Castle Rock, Colorado Springs, and surrounding areas soften lines, create fuller lips, and restore younger-looking contours. Board-certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Keith Ladner is a trainer for Galderma, the company that makes Restylane fillers, and he personally trained some of our nurse injectors.
Who Is a Good Candidate for Fillers?
Cosmetic injectable treatments such as fillers and neuromodulator like BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® are the world’s most popular nonsurgical aesthetic procedures. They are the ideal solution for women and men who aren’t ready for facial plastic surgery but who believe that early signs of aging make them appear older or tired.
You can benefit from filler injections if you’re concerned about any of the following:
- Dark circles or hollows beneath the eyes
- Nasolabial folds framing the mouth
- Vertical marionette lines on the chin
- Hollow or flattened cheeks
Our nurse injectors also perform lip filler injections for Denver patients who want to plump up or define their lips. They tailor their treatments and recommend specific fillers after listening to your concerns and examining the quality of your skin.
What Is a ‘Liquid Facelift’?
If you want to minimize expression lines such as crow’s feet and worry lines, you can combine dermal fillers with BOTOX as part of a liquid facelift. BOTOX and Dysport treat wrinkles caused by muscle movements when you squint, frown, smile, look surprised, or change your facial expressions in other ways. A liquid facelift is right for patients with mild to moderate lines and wrinkles. You may need a surgical facelift for more severe lines and skin that has lost much of its elasticity.
What Dermal Filler Is Right for You?
The latest generation of dermal fillers is much more specialized than their predecessors. It used to be that a single filler was a workhorse and was used to treat multiple concerns. Fillers today are formulated for use in specific areas, such as the cheeks, lips, or around the mouth. That’s why it’s important to choose an injector with the expertise to match a specific filler to your specific concerns.

Fillers We Offer
The active ingredient in most fillers, such as Restylane products, is hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a clear, gooey substance that the body naturally produces to help the skin retain water. Fillers are formulated using advanced technology to look and feel natural. Most fillers also contain lidocaine, a local anesthetic that helps patients remain comfortable during the injections.
Restylane Products
- Refyne: Designed with XpresHAn Technology™, Refyne softens lines such as nasolabial folds and marionette lines in a way that looks natural.
- Defyne: For deeper laugh lines, Defyne uses innovative cross-linking technology that helps restore a more youthful, natural-looking appearance while helping you maintain your natural expressions.
- Lyft: Approved by the FDA to restore volume to the cheeks, Lyft works well when combined with fillers to address moderate to severe wrinkles and folds.
- Silk: This is the first FDA-approved product specifically designed to augment lips and smooth wrinkles around the mouth.
- Kysse: Made with XpresHAn Technology™, Kysse was created to allow natural movement of the lips. Results last up to a year.
Sculptra® Aesthetic
Sculptra works differently than fillers such as Restylane. It produces results that emerge gradually but are more long-lasting because it stimulates collagen production. It is made using a substance called poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biologically compatible and biodegradable material that the body absorbs over time. Dr. Ladner uses it to correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds that appear as our skin produces less and less collagen as we get older.
Lip Fillers in Denver
Lip filler injections, often called lip injections, are an easy alternative to surgical lip augmentation with implants. The results of lip fillers are instant and easily reversible.
Benefits
We use fillers to provide a variety of enhancements to the lips, including:
- Adding and restoring volume to the top, bottom, or both lips
- Restoring definition to lip borders and the cupid’s bow
- Softening lines around the lips (smoker’s lines)
- Smoothing lip texture
Filler Options
We use various fillers for lip injections, many of which are specifically formulated for the lips. Options include:
- Restylane Kysse, Silk, and Defyne
Instead of, or in addition to, filler injections, we can use BOTOX injections to make the upper lip look fuller without adding volume. This procedure is called a BOTOX lip flip.
Results
Lip fillers provide instant results; expect temporary swelling and mild redness. Results last about 12 to 18 months, depending on the specific filler and individual patient factors.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are dermal filler injections painful?
Virtually all fillers we use are pre-mixed with lidocaine, a local anesthetic that reduces discomfort during injections. In more sensitive treatment areas, such as the lips, our injectors may apply a topical numbing cream to ensure you remain comfortable.
Are dermal fillers safe?
As with any cosmetic treatment, choosing an experienced, qualified injector is the most important step for ensuring the safety of the procedure. Fillers approved by the FDA have an excellent track record for safety, and serious complications are extremely rare. The most serious risk associated with dermal fillers is accidental injection into a blood vessel, which is why it’s important to choose an injector with knowledge of facial anatomy.
Are lip fillers better than a BOTOX lip flip?
Whether lip fillers or a lip flip is the best option depends on your goals and the current condition of your lips. A lip flip makes your lips look fuller without adding additional volume. The result is a subtle enhancement that lasts around 3 months. Lip filler adds volume and smooths out lines. The result is a more dramatic enhancement that can last up to a year.
What is the best age to get fillers?
Even though fillers are often considered an anti-wrinkle treatment, many patients in their 20s get filler injections to enhance the contours of specific facial features, such as the lips, cheeks, and chin. If you’re bothered by wrinkles, lines, or the contours of certain facial features, that is a more important factor when considering dermal fillers than age.
What’s the best dermal filler?
You probably won’t be surprised to learn that there is no single “best” filler. With the development of specialized fillers formulated to treat specific areas, you now have many more options than ever. After your consultation, one of our injectors can recommend the best filler for accomplishing your goals.
What happens if I stop getting fillers?
The aging process continues even when you get fillers, and it’s no different if you decide to stop getting injections. But putting the brakes on fillers doesn’t accelerate the aging process. Some people choose to get more long-lasting results through facial plastic surgery.
