Scar Revision

Purpose- Whether you are unhappy with the appearance of a mole, a post-surgical scar, or a defect from an accident, surgical or non-invasive revision can be done to significantly improve the appearance of an unsightly scar.

Procedure- There are various modalities to improve skin texture, contour, and color. This includes surgical excision or revision, skin resurfacing, steroid injections, medical interventions, fillers, or any combination of the above. After consultation with Dr. Ladner, he will recommend a plan on how to improve the appearance of the scar. Scar revisions can usually be performed under local anesthesia in less than 1 hr.

Recovery- The patient should be able to return to normal function immediately following the procedure. An occlusive dressing may be placed after the procedure and will be removed in a few days. Wounds heal faster in moist and clean environments, so it will be important to follow the wound care instructions given to you. Sutures are removed within 1 week of surgery.
